Ninh Binh is famous for its limestone mountains, peaceful rivers and lush rice paddies, but it also offers one of the most scenic golf experiences in Vietnam. Today I visited Trang An Golf & Resort in Ninh Binh, also known locally as San Golf Trang An, and played the Champion Course, which turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and challenging rounds of my Vietnam golf travels so far.
Getting There from Tam Coc
The journey from our accommodation near Tam Coc to Trang An Golf & Resort took about 30 minutes in a Grab car. If you plan to visit, the address we entered into the app was:
QL 45, Phú Long, Phú Long 08431, Tỉnh Ninh Bình
The drive passes through quiet countryside and small villages, which makes the trip feel like part of the experience. It is a great option for anyone looking for golf near Tam Coc or golf courses close to Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex.
The Two Courses at Trang An Golf & Resort
Trang An Golf & Resort features two 18 hole golf courses that cater to different styles of play.
- Pine Course This is an 18 hole par 3 course. I did not play it, but par 3 courses are often popular with golfers who want a shorter round or prefer to focus on their short game. It is also the more affordable option at the resort, which makes it appealing for casual golfers or anyone looking for budget friendly golf in Ninh Binh.
- Champion Course This is an 18 hole championship course, par 72, and it is the course I played. It is designed for golfers who enjoy a full length layout with strategic challenges and beautiful scenery.
Cost and Value for Golfers in Vietnam
My weekday round on the Champion Course cost 2,500,000 VND. The price included:
- A personal golf buggy
- A dedicated caddy
- Full access to the championship layout
For golfers traveling in Vietnam, this is excellent value. The course conditions, service quality and overall experience make Trang An Golf & Resort one of the best golf options in Ninh Binh.
Caddy Service and Tipping Etiquette
One of the highlights of my round was the caddy assigned to me. She was knowledgeable, friendly and incredibly helpful. She read greens, suggested clubs, adjusted my aim and even offered technique tips that improved my shots. At the end of the round, the resort provides a rating card where you score your caddy from excellent to not so good. I rated mine excellent.
Tipping is customary at golf courses in Vietnam, including Trang An Golf & Resort. If your caddy provides good service, it is polite and expected to give a tip at the end of your round.
Final Thoughts on Golfing in Ninh Binh
If you are visiting Ninh Binh and want to experience something beyond boat rides and caves, Trang An Golf & Resort is a fantastic choice. It offers great value, excellent course conditions, professional caddy service and a championship level challenge. Golfers traveling through Vietnam should absolutely consider adding this course to their itinerary.
Trang An Golf & Resort is one of the best golf courses in Ninh Binh and a memorable place to play for golfers of all levels.
